As far as I'm aware the change to Klear's formula was purely an EU thing and doesn't effect our cousins in the America's. I'm not sure however if it was a change ordained by the EU or just something dreamt up by Johnsons ?

I asked them and that's what they said, some EU ruling meant that one of the components in the original mix was no longer 'allowed'.

Typical EU really, delving FAR too deep into things that really don't matter a jot.  :banghead:

I wouldn't take that as carved in stone Kit. The EU is a very handy scapegoat for companies when they find that their changes to things don't go down to well with the general public. Seen the EU blamed for a few things that they had nothing to do with especially by some of the more "conservative" press over here.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

What's Windex please? I've never hard of it, at least under that name over here. And what's it used for as that may make it possible to find an equivalent here.

It's a glass and hard surface cleaner here in the UK. Think Windolene without the pink colour or smearing. Not sure if it's the same thing in Aus

Quote from: Librarian on November 19, 2013, 05:16:15 AMNever understood many model reviewers who state "....dunked in future...". Wouldn't this be disastrous?
Not at all! Future is selfleveling and after drying no differences in the thickness of the Future-layer are visible. One can also repeat the procedure several times. I even used the "dunking" method to colour transparent parts:

I'd tend to agree if it wasn't for the fact that they DIDN'T change it in the US Chris. That makes me think it was a Europe-only change, and why would they do that unless they had to?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Windex is just a glass cleaner, I am sure every country has their own versions of this product.

I prefer to dunk my clear parts in Klear/Future, just be sure to mop up the excess off the edges before you set it down to dry.
Dunking the clear parts in Klear/Future works better than brushing it on when working with large scale models, 1/72 scale or smaller its hard to tell if the clear parts were dunked or hand brushed but clear parts from 1/32 scale models look like crap when hand brushed, dunking the parts is so much easier than hand brushing anyway I am surprised anyone hand brushes. :o

BTW, I forgot to mention that if Future is thinned with glass cleaner and is used as a decal setting solution sometimes it can look rather milky on the models surface, no problem though because after its dry it clears up just like un-thinned Future. ;D
