The Flower Class one by Matchbox, now Revell.

Would be marching to the beat of his own drum, if he didn't detest marching to any drumbeat at all so much.

... and it's STILL huge!  :o

I saw a guy struggling out of the hall with one he'd just bought at the Brum Show. That kit is a favourite for people doing their first scale R/C warship, there's loads of third party add-ons available for it.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

This is by John Read, from one of my Dad's Railway magazines:

Overlord

Size is OO or HO which I think roughly equates to 1/72. Phenomenal.

The larger ship nearest the camera in the 2nd shot IS the Revell 'Snowberry', ex-Matchbox Flower Class corvette. You can see how big it is!

Wow !
That's what I had in mind . A jetty leading down to a Sunderland , the Airfix RAF rescue launch and Lifeboat. Warehouses and a gantry crane .Station halt, and a upper level for background scenery .My pasting table beefed up to take the extra weight .

www.micromark.com sells tools and supplies for ship model builders, and a few ship kits as well in large scales.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Back in the mid - late '80s, some outfit made a 1/72 carrier, might have been the Nimitz. The fiberglass hull was in 3 sections and the builder used plywood to make the deck. I think there was a separate kit for the island. Combat models makes a few vac ships in 1/72 as well as a few subs. And don't forget the several 1/72 injected subs available. ISTR Lindberg made/makes a few ships/boats in or near 1/72.

I remember that kit, in fact I saw one being transported on a boat trailer one weekend in Los Angeles. Guy had it rigged for RC and used a trolling motor for power. He told me the hardest part of sailing it was getting the air wing models , about sixty at the time, on the flight deck so she looked good. I wish I had both the room and money back then, I would have made a waterline display of her in port.
