Just to let those who have not read all of the thread ......... the KC-11 is on hold until the end of the year when Braz release their MD-11 conversion set which will be used to make the KC-11 from the KC-10 that I have. In the mean time I am working on the et all which at the moment consists of the P-10 MPA and will be followed by either AEW or JSTARS versions of the basic aircraft so keep the name ideas coming....

Finished installing the weapons bay yesterday but been either to busy or to tired to take a picture so far. Slight problem as one side is not as snug a fit as I had aimed for so a little remedial work will have to take place, hopefully this will not mean removing the bay from the fuselage as that could be a nightmare especially as I used tube glue to stick it in place    :banghead:

I wonder if this would work with a Heller 1/72 C-135R, a fifth engine in the tail?
Great work.

Even better, change it to three engines as in a reverse DC-10 build

Thanks Gondor,
I might try a forward swept wing as well.

I would think that subtlety would work best. I am hoping that my builds with four engines instead of three will totally confuse some people so why not do the same by making your KC-135 from four to three which is not what most people would expect. Its also a hell of a lot less work than making convincing forward swept wings.

If I used the jet pods from my B-52G, one pair would confuse you all :banghead:

Not been doing much with this or any other related build other than running ideas through my head. I have now got an E-3 AWACS that is donating its dish and pylons to the cause and a couple of days ago I ordered another set of engines to go with the AWACS build.

Latest idea is to make yet another four engined DC-10 derivative, this time an airliner  only with different engines yet again and in Aeroflot markings. I will probably use the Airfix DC-10 that is in my stash for this build though.

I also have updated the links to the earlier photos in this thread as they had become broken due to photobucket updating their site, I think, anyway all the pictures in this thread are now visible if anyone wants to look.

Only a small update after lots of filling and sanding being done to the main cabin windows of both the MPA and AWACS airframes. The number 2 engine has been removed from the AWACS fuselage half's and a new plate with holes for the new tail supports has been made.
If the weather was a bit cooler I would start adding the nose wheel bay and the weight for the nose as well as building the additional tail surface required by removing the engine from the tail.
Lots to do for October

I received another KC-10 for this little fleet today from ebay. Got it for a little under £15 probably due to its smaller companion Tornado missing along with the drogue and hose.

So I now have both an MPA version and an AWACS version under way. This KC-10 will probably have its boomer station removed so it can be used on something else. This will allow me to make either a JSTARS, ELINT, Airborne Command Post or VIP aircraft. Lots of options still. Maybe even just build as an airliner but use the four engines  ;D
