Republic built the XP-47H and the XP-72 with a honking big Chrysler inline motor. Curtiss build the XP-60C with a radial and contra-props. In the universe between my ears, Republic built the XP-47S with a P&W R-2800 equipped with a gear-box and special Hamilton Standard contra-rotating propellers.

This model is the '60s vintage Airfix Jug with FROG Shackelton propellers substituted for the stock prop. The gearbox is a piece of scrap plastic. The paint is hand-brushed OD/NG and Testors Yellow Zinc Chromate. decals are from Eagle Strike and the scrap-box.

Adios, Larry.

Very nice

but just FYI, the XP-72 was powered by the R-4360 radial.  Your model though looks quite a bit like the XP-47J

Very cool Larry, P-47 experimentals are always cool.

A Razorback D would look cool configured as an 'amphibion' ala the original
Seversky SEV.

BTW XP-72 was R-4360 powered.  ;)

I'd have loved to have HEARD one of them! Awesome looking beast.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have 2 sets of Shack props left. I have one model in the paint shop and one kit inbound in the post. Plus, I have a set from an old FROG Gannet that I am fooling around with. Adios, Larry.
