For reference..........

That's an early 2C in the lead, followed by the 2F and the 2D trailing.

Which is rather odd as most references say the 2F was built from the 2D.....

While looking into other Chaparral references I came across this site, 'The Chaparral Files' :- http://www.thechaparralfiles.com/index.php

It'll take a LOT of reading but it's full of fascinating stuff for the died-in-the-wool Chaparral fan. It clears up my comment above about the '......2F was built from the 2D.' There were TWO Chaparral 2Ds, which were themselves built from the original all fibreglass Chaparral 2s. In turn both 2Ds were converted into two 2Fs! So sometime after they'd stopped racing Jim Hall and Co. must have UN-converted one of the 2Fs back into a 2D.

But that same photo then produces another anomoly in that car in front ISN'T a 2C! There was only one 2C apparently, and it was built on an aluminium tub and it had a movable rear 'flipper', which the car in the photo doesn't have. The car in the photo looks like a 2, or 2A as it became re-named, except both existing 2As were converted to the 2Ds......

Hmmmmmm, yet more Chaparral mysteries....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
