are there any kits of the RR armored cars in 1/32, got a idea of a build showing the evolution of combat search and rescue cars through the ages, starting with the real world RR up to today most of them what if, say a blower Bentley from around 1930 replacing the RR and a mk1 jaguar replacing that in the late 1950s, a lacnia stratos being used in the 1970 and early 80s replaced by the Audi Quattro, and today they use Subaru Impreza wrc.
any ideas for and aganst this line up will be taken into considuration as will replacments,

Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Roden do a 1/35 one. Not sure about 1/32 ? Might have been some "toy" ones done
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hobbes

oh yes, plenty of scope for whifs there. Maybe take some inspiration from the BRIXMIS cars ?
The Stratos would be a bit small, you'd want to be able to recover someone on a stretcher. Early '70s you could do a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 estate conversion. The 6.9 had vast amounts of power (even more if it came via AMG), and the S was used in races and rallies. Or a Jensen FF shooting brake... (I don't think there's a kit of that though).

PR19_Kit

The RR Armoured Car lasted right through WWII out in the Middle East.

I do remember a kit of that in around 1/32 scale that I saw a few years ago at a Telford Show. Darned if I can remember who kitted it though.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

A quick Google finds the Roden 1/35 kit is readily available. Finescale Magazine had an article about scratching one using the Heller Bentley Blower in 1/24 http://www.finescale.com/~/media/import/files/pdf/b/2/7/fsmsep89.pdf
You could use Monty's Humber Snipe as a basis, it's current in the Airfix range.

Milicast do one in 1/76 http://www.milicast.com/shop/home.php?cat=87

Nowadays we'd use something like the Jackal or Coyote. Be interesting to see a 1960's desert camo Stalwart with guns on top....
I dare you to use the Austin van from Wallace and Gromit! ;D

A Stalwart with guns on top??   Wasn't that called a Saladin?   0r a Saracen if you needed to carry a squad?  As I recall, Stalwart, Saracen, Saladin and Salamander  were all varients of the same 6 wheel running gear.

An armed Stalwart as a temporary front line modification does, however, have considerable possibilities.

On a slightly different note, T E Lawrence  is reputed to have said something like " A Rolls in the desert is above rubies"   There are references to him swapping his camels for 60 MPH armoured cars....
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

i was thinking about staying away from the real world stuff and stick to converted sports cars to make a quick dash in and out, the weapons are only for self protection.

Remember the Top Gear where they 'road-tested' the new Ford Fiesta in a shoping mall and then had the Royal Marines use it for a beach assault? http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/sensible-fiesta
You could convert the Airfix Ford Fiesta WRC kit into a desert vehicle

The Dakar Rally would give lots of inspiration. I was looking for the Mini Cooper and found this  ;D  http://www.conceptcarz.com/articles/article.aspx?articleID=5532

Top Gear has some historical Dakar wonders! http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/odd-dakar-rally-cars-2012-01-03
Citroen DS, Porsche 959, Peugeot 405, Jaguar XJS (Made in Britain!).

I have a spare Airfix 1/32 Aston Martin DB5 if you want to play with it, it has been damaged in the box so is good for modding.

Mossie

Rally Mini seems like a plausible idea, Supacat were offering the Bowler Wildcat for military use, although it'll probably remain a whiff as it seems to have dissapeared from the website.

How about the Airfix Omnibus for a heavier armoured vehicle?  Leave off the top cab (quite easy I believe), plenty of room for a couple of MG turrets or something larger like a 6lber.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The R-R cars were built on Silver Ghost chassis so a later vehicle using the Bentley 4 1/2 Litre chassis
isn't outside of the realm of possibility. However using the Villiers blower equipped engine of the
supercharged version is less likely for multiple reasons, primarily reliability. The standard unblown,
long-stroke engine would be more than capable.
Bear in mind that the 4 1/2 Litre was heavy car as a road car, 3,850 lbs, so armour it carefully.  ;D

A US vehicle from the early '30s, a T8, for that hotrod look:

Don't know how militarily useful that T8 is, but it certainly looks VERY cool...

Yeah, wicked innit?

Great if one is fighting on roads, dry lake-beds or salt flats, otherwise not so much.

FYI, there is an LRDG site  I would suggest you check it out as they cover both the wars as well as the inter war period.   LRDG.com  ,I think.
