Okay, the title is sort of misleading. Oops.
This build show what was the beginning of Late Model Stock Car Racing in the Topeka Kansas Area. Here is the story.
On June 8th, 1966 we had an F4 tornado leave a half-to-3/4 Mile wide path of destruction from the southwest to the northeast corners of Topeka. Luckily the loss of life was minimal due to light traffic, lots of people being home eating super or watching TV and a darn good warning from a local TV anchorman who later became a national TV personality.
The toll in vehicles damaged or destroyed was very high and the insurance men were writing off cars that were mechanically sound but had extensive body damage. I think the government was trowing money in to help the uninsured and the insurance companies too so a lot of mechanically good cars were sitting around.
So what do you do with Mom's old 1964 Dodge 330 two door sedan that a tree fell on the rear roof? Cut off the bad roof, put roll bars in it and go racing!

This represents a early 70's Strictly Street 'B' Stock. One two bore carburetor, stock exhaust manifolds, no bars in front of the dashboard and ten inch wide tires maximum on 8 inch wide stock wheels.

^ Meet Dino Dan my little assistant. He got so excited he left a puddle of dino dust! ^

You'll notice the battery mounted to the firewall. A stupid rule but it was a rule. At least they let us run modified air cleaners!
