but where do the Avengers,Hellcats (Wildcats?) and Corsairs fit in with the Dark Blue but European theatre type roundels that you see photos of? Plus as this is a Whiff it doesn't deviate too far from the 'norm' does it?

I've always assumed they are post war. The profiles I have all are, although one is just dated 1945 so does make you think

So what I was wondering was that those aircraft would've presumably gone through a maintenance unit (MU) and they were still Dark Blue and in Europe? And your Tigercat is late 1945/1946 (matching timescale) so there is no 'issue' as such with the logic of the scheme?

Lee is possibly refering to the 'white' tail, it was a recognition feature for the Pacific once more Allied aircraft started moving into the theater.

But I like what you done Chris    you could say that the aircraft were painted that way pending a move to the Pacific (via Canada) but after getting painted up, the move was cancelled because the war ended and there wasn't any point in changing the scheme again  ----

Now my theory is that as FAA camouflage was changing to the overall EDSG with the low demarcation line they didn't bother repainting them. There is also the thought of economics post war, cost of materials/labour on severely reduced budgets. Also not sure if they would have been British as such but loaned by the US and they didn't want them over painted But that's the real world and this is the Wif one, so I'm happy with her as she is. I am thinking of another in either EDSG/Sky with the low demarcation as post war or with the high demarcation as Korea.

Lee's reference to an 'Atlantic' scheme is probably the USN ASW Scheme 2, Dark Dull Grey over White(s), which
was used in the North Atlantic.

Yup, and one of my favourite schemes. I've built a couple of models in it. It's a useful area of operations for all those USN aircraft that didn't quite make it. I've got 2 Sea Wolf's in the stash and if I can ever face the canopy framing one will get done in that scheme
