I had some leftover propeller blades from a Special Hobby Seafire and a $5.00 Airfix Typhoon. It was time for a 1940s Cleveland National Air Races racer. The spinner is from an Air Lines Sea Fury that I built in 1963(it was my first ever FROG build). I cut off the cannons, breech covers, and bomb racks and puttied the holes. The rest is OOB except main-wheels from the spares-box. I brush-painted the model Humbrol Gloss Orange and Testors Aluminum for the insides. I used scrap-box decals to mark the racer in period-style markings. This is my fourth Whiffer air racer. I feel the call to build some more racers in the future. I think Orange looks really cool on this big brute of a Typhoon.

Adios, Larry.

I agree.....that looks awesome ! Nice work. Interesting to read that the spinner is from a kit you built in 1963.....that's wild !

A Pink P-39, now an Orange Tiffie! What's next I ask myself?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The Typhoon looks unexpectedly good in orange - an excellent result from a really old kit

And is that a copy of Spider Robinson's ultra-rare "Antinomy" collection lurking on the bookshelves in the background?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks the part

For a modern "Reno racer", a low canopy would be good: low bubble, like the Rare Bear, or a slightly raised back like September Fury.

Army of One

Great looking a/c you got there...........a welcome change from all the camo schemes......
