In the border skirmishes at the turn of the century Victorian skies were kept clear of GEA (Greater Eastern Australia) aircraft by the MiG 29s (locally known as the Fuc'um) of the Republican Guard.
Built under license by Javelin Industries at Tullamarine these aircraft combine the Russian designed airframe and Klimov engines with locally made avionics, radar and weapons systems.
The example pictured here is finished in the PDRV border patrol camo scheme.  Weapons load is typical for air superiority missions consisting of (in addition to the 23mm JI123 cannon in the left wing root) a pair each of JI620 20mm Gatling pods and TuN4b "Bluefin" & TuN4y "Yellowfin" air to air missiles.

I thought i'd try my hand at a modern jet and HLJ had these going for $7 each.
It's the Tamiya "Warbirds" reboxing of the Italeri 1/72 kit.
Paint job is a Cuban pattern with my colours brushed freehand.
Gun pods are Hasegawa and missiles are ICM.
Decals are my own.The pointy thing on the nose is brass tube following the original going to the spiders after I broke it off for the 4th time.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That looks great: the cammo is excellent.

By 2001 South Australia will probably still be allied with the Peoples Democratic Republic of Victoria and Tasmania.
So far i've only written the history up to 1939 though so it could change...

Camo is gorgeous, so hard to get the colours right. The nosecone is phenomenal . VERY hypnotic.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks folks.

Ao1 - don't worry about criticising my work.  I'm a big boy, I can take it.  If it's an opinion (as this is) then you are allowed to have one, if it's bad workmanship it may be something i've missed (but be gentle, I may sulk) and if it's a technical issue then i'll either explain it away, swear (at myself) or accuse you of being a rivet counting JMN.
I am of the opinion that if you post pictures on a forum then you want feedback and if you want feedback you have to take the good with the bad.

I was masking the nose off with thin tape and just kept on going.  If you don't like it now you would of really hated the original which had the spiral continuing on down the spike (it's a pitot isn't it?).
