Would it have been possible to use the Nardi FN.315 trainer as the basis for a fighter, which could either have been used by the Regia Aeronautica or exported like the Reggiane Re.2000? I suppose that the main challenge would have been to fit a suitable engine in the frame.

Or would the result have been a bantam-weight fighter like the Caudron C.714, too light to really be useful?

Converted to a single seater with a pair of mg's in the nose it might have been possible.

The Italian's like the French designed a fair few lightweight fighters, such as the SAI 207 and 403.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
