RAF painting rules

I'm gearing up to make some Soviet aircraft in RAF markings during the B of B. I know controversy rages about RAF colour schemes of imported aircraft. Would, for eg, a light olive/black/blue schemed Soviet aircraft have been completely repainted or would perhaps the green have been kept but the black replaced with brown, maybe Sky/Duck Egg Blue undersides? Any good examples out there to give some idea?

IMHO any non-standard type would have been re-painted totally in the current RAF scheme, whatever that was. They changed remarkably frequently in the period, what with the black/white undersides and the various roundel sizes etc.

The Air Ministry applied the rules pretty strongly, but in Whiffworld that doesn't mean you have to..........  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

YAY! Could be fun to do one mid-paint .

Out of interest, if the IL-2s were to be used predominantly for anti-shipping etc would they have gone to Coastal Command or FAA? I think one would look nice in that scheme.

My vote/thought would be Coastal Command. FWIW.

Repainted and Coastal Command. Don't forget Coastal and Fighter Commands had different camouflage schemes in place at the time. Especially re undersides
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Also top sides. IMHO, if you integrate a foreign aircraft, it would most likely have been repainted completely according to current regulations, and in case of doubt IMHO the land schemes would be preferred - for instance, the Fokker T.VIII torpedo floatplanes that fled from the Netherlands to UK were re-painted in Temperate Land scheme (Dark Green/Dark Earth) - before, they had been painted all over aluminum:

That does look good, and good news too...no factory layouts to follow, just a bit of freehand spraying. I'm liking this more and more .
