I've been wanting to do this one for a while.  So, I've finished watching Dollhouse, and now I'm working my way through Breaking Bad.  What a hilariously dark show!  It was only fitting to drag out this old idea and see what I could do with it.

The basics: Turn a Typhoon submarine into an aircraft carrier.  This has been done by many better modelers than me.

The twist: Use a 1/400 typhoon to make a 1/700 submersible aircraft carrier.  This thing is  longer than an Essex!

Enough gabbing, on with the pics!

I started with an old DML Typhoon I won on E-bay a dog's age ago.

And an old 1/400 Hunt for Red October kit.

The eventual representative airwing.

Some rhinoplasty.

Size comparison with a modern destroyer.

The money shot (so far).

Nice one ! Love the idea ( or should I say, had the idea....) but alas, she's over <<<<<there in the half built pile  :banghead:
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

NARSES2

That looks good so far

Must admit I didn't realise how big the Typhoon is. The problem is that when you see a line up of submarine models as an non submariner you don't normally have anything in the same scale that you are familiar with to reference them to
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That's some SERIOUS scaleoramaring there! Nice one.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
