On the cancellation of the TSR2, the government placed an order for 50 F-111K bombers.  Had we actually got them, here's what I think they would have looked like by the 80's.

7 Sqn was one of the units earmarked to receive them. XV 912 was within the range of serials set aside for the F-111K.

Kit is the Academy one.  It did fight me a bit, but went together ok.

Great build, 1/48 scale?

Devilfish

Yes. Not a great kit, but it was cheap....

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

Woah that's huge in 48th scale ! Love the weapons load. I've always been a fan of those blue practice bombs. Great job

Thankyou.  I must admit, it's not my favourite subject and certainly not my favourite kit.  I got fed up with it by the end, so it's not as well finished as some of my kits....

I hear you about the kit being a pig - I had trouble with my one. I like your finished product though, it looks very neat and crisp. Great stuff!

The F-111K was based on the F-111A so there would be differences. An EF-111A could also be used as long as its the Hasegawa kit which has all the parts to make a non EF version in the box as well.

Lovely. I'm in progress of converting a very old Airfix F-111E that I originally built in the early 80:s and it is, apart from details, turning out quite similar to your beautiful a/c. As for the comments regarding the K being closely related to tha A and the therefore necessary old inlets - your is a Mk 3 and I'd reckon that by the time RAF got up to their third mod of the 'Vark, the inlets would have been updated at least along the lines of their american cousins.
Good job!!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Devilfish

Like I say, the F-111 isn't even in my top 100 aircraft, so I really don't know the vagaries of the various inlet changes. I just picked the one that had splitter plates.....

Looks great!  That thing is H U G E.
