Does anyone know if the above reacts with styrene, like melting it or distorting it if applied thickly

No chemical reaction, but if a large enough quantity is left concentrated in a small area the heat
produced by curing can distort styrene. Note that this is a result of a small surface area in relation to
quantity, spread out you won't get the extreme exothermic reaction. A simple fact that I never could
drum into the head of a couple of people I worked with on the junk restoration in Hawaii. Along with,

yer skin."

If you are applying a lot of epoxy, I'd recommend doing it in layers, as long as the layers are applied
within 24 hours of each other they will still chemically bond, after 24 hours the bond is pretty much
just mechanical.

Thanks Jon, I'll have to see what I can do, my 'Anything but Military' project has a problem, the nose weight I thought I had glued in has come adrift, and there's no access to it now cause I've closed the hole up.    :banghead: :banghead:  The only chance I've got to do something about it is when I cut the nose wheel bay into the fuselage but getting to it is going to be very hard.

Drill a small hole and use PVA glue and fill the cavity partially with the glue.  It doesn't expand very much and it will hold the weight in place.  It flows better than Epoxy and is easier to "inject" through the hole.  I've had to do this a couple of times and what I've done is cut the end off a plastic pipette and placed it in the hole.  The other end fits over the nozzle of the PVA glue bottle and you can then just squeeze in as much as you need.  Then just PSR the hole.

Another wonder stuff for such occasions is simple, water-based casein glue. It can be injected through very small openings, flows well and does not react with styrene at all.

Thanks guys -- I was thinking of that as well.  I might have to use a lot as I've got about 65 grams of nose weight in one big chunk floating around.  At least I think it's only one of the weights which has come loose  ---  :banghead:  I won't know until I get the hole for the nose wheel bay cut in and have a look inside.
