NARSES2

Your perseverence will be worth it Alistair
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

You must spend as much time taking piccies of the project as you do modelling Alastair!

Talk about a blow by blow account.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

All good work here - let me know if you need decals (squadron markings and the like), got a shed load and happy to share !!

Ian

Thanks for the offer Ian, I purchased for this build and the Typhoon T2 Modedecal set 94 which has loads of Phantoms from 1969 to 1974 which covers the time period I am building

Quite possibly Kit with all the editing of the pictures, uploading them and then writing about what I have been doing to get to what the pictures show. But the idea is that it is informative to others as well as being enjoyable to myself. If I find I need help with something I am doing the history and thought processes that I have followed will help others to help me as well as what I do helping others with the odd technique or method.

With this build, if it's not one problem then it's another would appear to be the norm  :banghead:

Decided to test fit the air intake to one side.

I have come to the conclusion that the fuselage depth just behind the cockpit on both models is different. Not necessarily by a huge amount, but enough to cause me loads of grief.

Work will progress on this kit and it will be at Glasgow in a few weeks time but the progress will be slowed as there is no way I will have every problem I have encountered remedied by then. I do have a little something else planed for the show though, will have to see how that works out.

A bit more progress as promised. I started by holding the intake parts in place then scratching the a line into the raised part of the splinter? plate. After that it was a simple matter of grinding the excess away using a milling bit in my trusty motor tool.

Of course the result is a little rough to say the least and there are other areas that are not as good as I hoped they may be so its out with the filler....

So now its simply a matter of waiting a day or so for the filler to cure before I attack the model with sanding sticks and associated weapons.

Nice to know someone is paying attention.

I intended to say that it would probably be a day or so before I was able to tackle the filler which is Mr Hobby White Stuff.

Absolutely nothing done  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Way too much real life getting in the way of things but I will be taking this to Glasgow to do some work on.

Wow, Amazing! Wanting to know how this turned out!

Stalled after going to the Glasgow show. I really must get a move on with it as its only six months until the next show that I go to regularly

While sorting a few items out ready to try and get back into doing something with all the plastic I have, I realised that I have put the cockpit together without the instrument panels being fitted  :banghead: :banghead:

Not so much of a problem for the back seater as there is space to put the panel in although the pilots panel needs to go under the combing

To quote Baldrick "I have a cunning plan" which involves removing the combing and replacing it with a spare I have once the instrument panel is in place.

Too bad this one is stalled ! I'd almost say continue on with this one and start a second to add your RAF rear fuselage ? Or maybe not, as that would probably entail cutting up 2 more kits....

:banghead:

I believe that the Matchbox F-4 K/M has the right depth of fuselage so I will probably have a go with that at some point.
