2015 One Week Group Build: The Rules

In the words of the great Springfield philospher Ned Flanders, okeydiddleydokey here's the rules:

1.  Group Build runs from 00.01 Friday 3rd April 2015 to 24:00 Sunday 12th April 2015 (all times GMT). 

2)  Any subject, any scale - but must be a what if.  Profiles and stories also eligible.

3)  You may build, draw or write as many entries as you like (good luck!).  The posting of in-progress pictures is encouraged as always.  Back stories - however long or short - win extra points.  Well OK they don't but they're always nice to see.

4)  "Preparation" work is allowed prior to the start of the GB - this includes the cutting out and cleaning up of parts, even printing your own decals (!), but anything involving paint or glue is not allowed. 

5)  Part-started models are not allowed - we are relying on the honour of our membership to uphold this rule.

6)  The 1WGB is to be conducted in the true Olympian spirit - it's not the winning but the taking part.  Coming top of the pile (or is that stash?) does add to the enjoyment though and the winner will receive a hand-crafted illuminated scroll prepared by the monks of Lindisfarne.  In the event of a tie there will not be a 'whif-off', the honours will be shared.

A point of clarification arising from CANSO's query in the 'One Week GB - anyone up for one?' thread:

Now after the rules are here, do they prohibit the use of old, broken, unfinished and "dismembered" etc. models?

Well, 'unfinished' equals 'part-started' to me; broken suggests it will be repaired - that is not a new build; a repaint of an old but complete model is not within the rules (or indeed the spirit) of the GB.

I started filling a box with parts and remnants from old models - some of them are painted, some of them are still glued together, but I intended to use them in a new, different way, painted parts will be overpainted and so on.
Will this be against the rules?

Now if you are raiding the spare box and using sub-assemblies from otherwise dismembered models, then I'd say that was in the rules as long as the sub-assemblies are not from the same model and one is simply reassembling it for the purposes of the build.

If you are simply raiding the spares box to use up spares that have never been glued or pointed, well that to me seems no different to assembling an unmade kit and is in the rules.

OK one final rule now we have a finished build.

In the finished builds thread please post up to (but no more than) three pictures of your completed build plus back story if you have one.  Feel free to include a link back to the build thread of course.

Great to see laudatory comments against completed builds (and apologies for not making what I'm about to say clearer, earlier) but can these be posted only in the build threads please?  Don't wish to be a curmudgeon and all that and the request is made in the nicest possible way.

So the comments against Dizzy's Lebanese Spitfire will be moved across to the build thread at some point soon.  Great to see these comments - all praise to the builder and those expressing support - so it's important they're kept somewhere.
