I never realized just how many American aircraft the Iranians designed and built.

And just when i thought the one i was going to build was a WHIF! ;D

Well, what technology was on that drone they figured out how to hack into and land?  Well, whatever sensor technology that would be usable for air-to-air may very well be on it -- it would make sense.
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Pretty cool looking ! I think it's a bit of a waste of time tho. What are the advantages other than the extra weight of having twin tails ?

I think the only "advantage" is it makes it look like a new aircraft and they can play up the propaganda aspect for the locals.  The F-5 already has good stability and excellent roll rates. Perhaps a bit better in high angle of attack.

There is a reason why the Iranians have decided to alter the F-5.  Obviously the twin-tails works and works well enough for them to rebuild the F-5s they still have.  I suspect it provides a better control at high angles of attack, which in a dog-fight might be crucial to winning.   We all know what happens to losers...  :banghead:

I's like to see the upper area of the rear fuselage. The "1st generation" Saeghe looked there as if the fins had been bolted onto the rest of the aircraft with stuff from a DIY store... I doubt that this 2nd generation is anything different, just that a two-seater has been used. Anyway, concersion is easy to make if you have a surplus set of wings, size and shape are perfect for the job!  ;)

Who knows... it could be good in dogfights. Are their pilots any good?
I hear a "Viper Driver" can be very upset when he gets "shot down" by a BAe Hawk pilot in a dogfight exercise...

I agree it is definitely cool looking. I'd like to see the F-20 version !

I bet the Iranians would too...........  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
