Being a 109 fan from way back, I thought I'd have a go at the only Me, not built in plastic. Using the Hobbycraft M-1-L model, for everything less the engine cowling, and marrying the engine from an 'Accurate Minatures' P-51A to complete the model. by removing the upper intake, and cutting down the chin, (a little) the shape is very close. Also, the P-51A comes with a three bladed prop, and the spinner is close to the right shape.
The great thing about the P-51 model is that the engine is a separate assembly to the rest of the aircraft, as it's also used to make the A-36.
The intakes and filters are scratchbuilt as is the faring above the exhaust stacks.
I intend finishing it off as Marselle's 109F, from the German movie, "Der Stern von Afrika" made in the late '50's.

Reading you, I was very surprised : I remembered the Ha 1112 as the Merlin Bf109, so the P-51B nose may be correct, but... why using a P-51A/A-36 nose, as this P-51 is the only (mass-produced) one without Merlin ???

Somewhere in my memory was a doubt: wan't there another Buchon-109 with a French engine, not the Allison of the P-51A but not a Merlin...
Google directed me to a great article of our dear Ollie, himself (maybe not awake right now while it is the morning in Europe after the Australian day - soon he will explain all, I am sure)... :)

He's doing an earlier version with the Hispano-Suiza engine which evolved from the HA1109J1L through subsequent developments.

That's right, Glenn is working on a Hispano powered Hispano Bf 109!

I stay on the Merlin side, because real Messerschmitts have Merlins!   :D

Nice work Glenn, can't wait to see it finished!
