Yup, every time I see that photo my mind just boggles.

The nearest I've got to seeing these things fly is in that old Jimmy Stewart film...Strategic Air Command ?

As we were the last RAF family still living at RAF Upper Heyford when the USAF took over in 1950 or so I was there when the first B-29s flew in. I wasn't that impressed at the time as they didn't look all that 'bomber like' to me, having been brought up on Lancasters and Halifaxes etc, but when my Dad took me over to see one close-up I WAS impressed as it towered over me!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

There is one at Duxford in the USAF hall.

There was a Guppy proposal for modding a B-52 and I've seen at least a side view of a less modded B-52 transport for hauling ICBMs around.

McColm

There's been a few B-52 Guppy proposals. I'm still figuring out what to use with the 1/72 Acadamey C-97, the C-135 fuselage?

I spent a little time at Dyess AFB in 2003. The hangers were built to hold B-36s. You could put two B-1s in there with room left over.

Back to the build, the C-97 landing gear is so fiddly, no wonder there is a white metal alternative!

The Academy 1/72 KC-97G arrived today and the Heller Hawkeye Rotodome fits perfectly on the upper fuselage. Might fit the triple tail from the Airfix Lockheed Super Constellation. By swapping the vertical tail over. The remaining four RR Griffons will be glued to the engine cowlings. Sort of hybrid conversion.  Cargo ramp fitted as the alternative glazing is going on the Super-G with the large tail fin. I'll see if the Atlantic wings fit (Starliner-twin engines with twin auxiliary jet engines).

Surely there's a camera somewhere....and there's a few tutorials here regarding Photobucket.
