i just finished this Minicraft 1/144 Boeing 377 Stratocruiser.
this is a realworld model, built for the transport GB over on Kampfgruppe144

there is actually a little WHIF in this build, as the basekit was actually a Minicraft KC-97G Stratotanker  ;D
i had the civilian PanAm decals from an old incomplete B377 i bought a few years ago, due to the age of the sheet, some of the started to break on removal  :-\
but ive managed to fix most of them as good as possible, in the end i think it looks presentable

on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

That looks excellent Nils.

The Strat is one of Minicraft's better mouldings, in either civil or military versions.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Fine job, Nils! The finish is nice enough to be one of those desktop models you can buy.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Nice build Nils ! Beautiful aeroplanes and you have really done it justice. She will look great up on your shelf.

Very nice result.

Agree with kit, some of their other 144 kits are a bit dodgy.

Did anyone make a decent 1/72 injection kit of these?

Academy do, apart from one of the wings. There's a gap towards the rear.Landing gear needs replacing with the metal SAC set. Olympia do an engine and turret set in resin.
Had the 377, KC-97G and KC-97L.
Loads of spare pieces in the KC-97L kit.

It's HUGE in 1/72 scale of course.  :o

Its as big as the Revell/Mach2 Br1150 Atlantic in length. The Atlantic weapons bay fits inside if you want to create a bomber version.

McColm, the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was a development of the B29/50 family

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

Yes,
But you could use the Academy parts to create a bomber version of the Boeing 377. The Rotodome from the Hawkeye kit also fits if you want an AEW & C, just haven't got around to building yet. The Airfix BAe Nimrod wings need some sort of support if a mini- Princess seaplane is to be taken on. Tried that as well, didn't get around to finish the build. Something to so next year.
