Sweden is practically hollow given how much they excavated for aircraft hangars, fuel tanks, power plants, submarine docks, gun mounts and nuclear shelters.

Not to mention large chunks of the SAAB factory at Linkoping too! 

...sadly decommissioned 30 years ago..

I had to de-commission a 72 channel test rig there that I'd only installed a few years before. A pity as it was a great place. What did they do with the site afterward?

Actually - nothing. It stills stands as it did when the last engineer put down his pen and left. Frozen in time, in a sense.

That must be strange, I wonder what they did with 'my' rig.

Where do they build the Gripens now? Perhaps it's there.......

I didn't.  Superglue and Milliput Putty.  She still sits in my display cabinet.  I'm rather proud of her.

The exhausts were 1/48 after market Maestro ones, purchased through the wonders of the Internet from Sweden.

I've seen you are planning to build a new one.  The list of my materials were:

1 x 1/48 Draken fuselage and wings (Lindbergh kit but if I was doing it again, I'd go with a Hasegawa one);
1 x 1/72 TF-104 nose (used the Heller one as it was spare);
1 x 1/72 Mirage IV undercarriage and drop tanks (Heller);
2 x Maestro Draken resin exhausts;
2 x aftermarket ejector seats;
a load of plasticard, Milliput putty, sanding and patience to get it "just right".

Don't beholden to what I've done, do what you want!
