Those of a certain age may remember the 'Project Sword' range of toys from the 1960s, which were loosely associated with Gerry Anderson. I had the 'Booster Rocket' ( see below ) which was based on a design from NASA's Ames Research Centre. Last Saturday I made some sketches scaled from various photos, and started on making a resin kit to resurrect the design - six days later all the resin parts are made and ready for assembly ! The finished model will be around 60cm / 24ins long.

The original toy ( not mine :( )

Six days after starting the initial sketches for the kit I have this collection of cast resin parts, flash sanded off, ready to assemble :D

While waiting for plastic tubing to be delivered to make the masters for the main parts of the model I built and painted a prototype of the re-entry glider ( I also made some decals for it ) - this is 13cm long

More to follow once I glue the bits together :)

Painting begun - still trying to decide between the toy's grey/blue scheme  or something more realistic

That's looking excellent, very 1950s.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I love that.  I'm impressed that you can draw up, cast, build and paint a model from scratch much quicker than I can get an IM kit together!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Briliant, for years I have half remembered an annual I had in the 60s. It was Project Sword.  I am glad I hadn't imagined it.
