Heyford exhausts go up from the manifold, slightly swept, and then make quite a sharp turn FORWARDS!  :o

No, I have no idea why they do that and I fitted them to my Hawker Cyclone pointing more conventionally backward.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Lovely build, good sleek lines. I did read that DH had put a bomber (?) variant to the Air MInistry that was knocked back. Wonder how a PR offering would have gone in real life?

Well, if shes in Australia there is bugger all chance. Retirement age is creeping towards 67 plus now, I'm sure they will increase it every few years just to keep us wage slaves hanging on.

Retirement age is going up to 66 in the UK in 2018 ? I'm 65 in 2017 but I retired at 55 anyway  ;D Bought 10 years and got my full pension then so why work the extra ?  :rolleyes:

Very pretty, Chris.  And Camotint too!

And it's your first Comet?  Blimey - I must have built at least three over the years, including the BEA Comet earlier this year.  Another three in the stash - two for whiffery and one real world.  I do wish Airfix would bring out a new Comet - the SBS kit (http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/SBSK7003) looks beautiful but at £30...?).
