What time period were they putting kits in blister packs?

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

1980s basically.

I've built that kit, indeed I still have an example (boxed)  but I don't think I've ever built a blister kit from Airfix. I was off the scene in the 80's.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I've always like the look of this plane

I remember the Airfix blister packs around 1976/1977, when I was about 9 years old and fanatically in love with anything airplane. They've could have been around a few years earlier already. Just that at this time I didn't really pay attention on account of me being too young then. After 1978, I lost focus of the blister packs and concentrated on the two-color Matchbox kits (anyone remembering those?) I recall that by 1981, Airfix had switched over to one-piece cardboard boxes completely, but I found one store that still had some blister packs left over. So I assume the timeframe for the blister packs is about 1975 to 1980

Thanks folks.  I used to spend hours agonising over whether to spend my pocket money on a blister pack Airfix or a two-colour Matchbox.  It drove me mad that you couldn't see the decals clearly in the Airfix blister or see much at all through the Matchbox window.
I built a Whirlwind but I think it came in a box.
