OK, it's up to 11, now what............?

Witnessing a SR-71 flyby at the Pt. Mugu, California, USA airshow in the early 1980's has to be my most vivid airshow experince.   The second pass was in full burner and the shock cones in the exhaust were very visible and the sound and feel was most impressive- a real 11.....

An airshow memory I will never forget...the SR71 at Mildenhall. I was sitting cross legged on top of my Dad's car and as the engines wound up the entire car started vibrating, went thru my tush and up my spine. Then the full afterburner kicked in and my intestines jellified...superb ;D

Still got a photo of her streaking overhead.

Could have been at the same airshow but a flock of F-104s took off and then disappeared. With no warning they suddenly reappeared some minutes later, just below the sound barrier and very low, practically over the crowd-line. Incredible to watch several tens of thousands of people doing an involuntary Mexican wave.

Looks like only the starboard engine was in 'burner too, the pilot must have had a strong right leg.......
