Dassault-Breguet Atlantic ELINT/RINT ideas

I haven't seen any whiff builds of the German Navy Atlantic RINT/ELINT, so whilst tidying up I came across the instruction sheet of the Falcon vacform 1/72 Triple Conversion II which has the C-1 COD Trader, McDonnell Banshee and Lockheed EP-3E. Hannants sells this conversion kit.
Using the EP-3E parts on the Atlantic could  build the Atlantic RINT/ELINT or a Whiff Atlantic AIRES. This would look better on the Revell model as the Mach2 is only good for kitbashing.
I would change the RR Tynes with two of the Airbus A400M Atlas/Grisly and add ESM wing pods from the Airfix BAe Nimrod. (That's if I haven't sold my entire stash!).

Another idea was an AEW & C using the spin top from an E-2C Hawkeye or if you haven't got one of those the Nimrod AEW resin conversion set.
Failing that David J Parkins does the JSTARS for the C-135. If placed on a stand above the fuselage sort of  Saab AEW-ish.
Got that Andover look to it.
Dassault did try and sell the idea of a jet powered Atlantique, I went one step further and used the wings from the Airfix BAe Nimrod, that was before I discovered you need a drill and some form of dowelling for added strength and to keep the wings in line with the fuselage!

Got the Heller 1/72 E-A AWACS kit on order and was thinking along the lines of using the Rotodome and stand on the Atlantic. Should look good as India trialed an Andover/ HS 748 with something similar. I plan on adding the engines from the C-160 to form a four turboprop version.

I did have a look at that, but the wings make the turboprops look tiny.
Might work better on a smaller scale say 1/200 kit with 1/144 turboprop engines.

That's interesting, I've not seen that pic of the -47D with all that overwing wing tufting stuff before. That's a BIG area they've covered there, and it's what the fin-top camera was looking at I guess?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Never thought of that, got the EC-135N AIRES in the stash, could use the Neptune propellers.

Captain Canada

Oh yes that's a gorgeous pic ! Thanks for sharing.

That's where I got the idea for the Bristol type 170 Freighter AEW from. I know a Whiffer did a line drawing of the Atlantic AEW with two and four turboprop Tyne engines.
Thanks for the idea for the E-2 ELINT, going to have a go at the Falcon vacform Grumman C-2 Greyhound.
Might get two and build a twin turbojet version.

McColm

I wonder if the engines from the Revell 1/72 A4000M Atlas would fit on the Atlantic?
If not the eight blade propellers will do instead!
