I remember hearing that during testing of the Snark that they designed the ability for it to land so as to avoid destroying the missile after every single test: This gave the missile an ability in combat to fly outbound 11 hours; then return if the warhead was not dropped.

The prototype may or may not have had landing gear, but the production model did not appear to have one and would belly-land: I'm curious as to the auto-land process

  • Was it command guided to the strip where it would belly in?
  • Was it command guided throughout the whole landing process via the same means or use ILS?
  • Did it use a fully automated system for landing?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.
