To-day (Fri 2nd. Sept) was day 1 of the ScIAS. There was lots of places to drink and eat, lots of old vehicles on display both civil and military, lots of funfair rides, but not much flying.
Also the flying items did not start until 1700. Oh yes and the weather was not that great, showers coming through fairly frequently.
However, one thing was really worth seeing that has been claimed as a world first and that is three products of the North American aircraft company that have never flown in formation before, now have done so.
P-51D Mustang, B-25 Mitchel, and an OV-1o Bronco.

More photos after tomorrows main display.

Well this years Scottish International Airshow took place this weekend. The first part, mostly ground show but with some flying, took place on the Friday afternoon. The flying starting at 1700, and at this time of year, here in SW Scotland that meant that the later acts were done in the gathering dusk and the beginning of twilight. However that was the design.
The earlier flying was done in daylight and the best shot of that you can see above. The North Amearican Aviation formation. This flyby was repeated the following day, Saturday.

The link for that part of the airshow is here:

Please remember that Photobucket tends to reverse the order in which the photos were uploaded.

Then there was rhe main flying display on Saturday. The weather was not kind with heavy showers coming through most of the day, but there were good points, like when you got home and had a hot drink in your hands!

So what are my favourite moments?

On the Friday evening the Aerosparks, with their led's and pyrotechniques really stole the show. Mrs. JayBee was almost in tears with this.

On the Saturday. Oh gosh.
The Typhoon which you did not so much as heard as felt right through your bones.
The Blades with their Extra 300's, well they are all ex-Red arrow pilots so what do you expect.
The Norwegian Vampire pair.
The OV-10.
The B-25 Mitchel.
The P-51D Mustang.
I have never seen the last three in the air before.
The formation of those last threeproducts of North American in the air together, never to be forgotten, and who knows, maybe, never to be repeated.

lenny100

almost exactly the same aircraft they had at Sunderland this year , do they come as a package?
Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Captain Canada

Great pics ! The Coast Guard display looks cool.

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !

Are they all a package? I am not sure Lenny. I think that each season you get certain "acts" which put themselves up for display work.
I am still chuckling at the Norwegian Vampires.
The single seater did a display here then landed to refuel.
Then they were seen departing to Portrush in N.Ireland for that display.
Approx. 30 minutes later they were back for the display here.
Fantastic. One flight, pay us twice.
Now that is the way I would try and organize it.
