Those who read my blog will no I'm currently building a real world USN F4-F circa early 1942. Well I have a problem with the suggested paints.

Airfix recommend 125 US Dark Grey  and 129 US Gull Grey. Now the former looks to grey to me, lacks the bluish tinge I think of with USN aircraft and the latter looks  to pale ?

Now I'm thinking of going with Xtracrylic XA1126 Dark Blue Grey and XA1137 Light Gull Grey.

Any thoughts, recommendations ?

Is that one of the blusih-grey/light grey USN machines? Humbrol 129 (FS36440) for the lower sides is the correct tone, while the upper color is a unique USN tone called "Blue Grey", or M-485.
Rumor has it that it is FS35189, it falls IMHO between Humbrol 144 (FS36314) and 145 (FS 35237) - if that helps? I know that the tone is or was available as enamel from Modelmaster from their Authentic Line (#2055):

Cheers Dizzy I'll use Humbrol for the lower colour.

The Xtracrylic XA1126 Dark Blue Grey is FS15237 so I think I'll go with that
