Captain Canada

Hi guys ! Bought a toy on the weekend and that got me to thinking, that I have some kits at home. Always wanted to do this one up with some extra details....

I'm missing a few figures but it's got the main characters

The Falcon looks superb. I'm hoping to start by detailing it.

The X-Wing and Speeder also look great, but the Y-wing is awful ! I'll figure out what I'm going to do with it, either improve them or just scratch new ones.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Not really sure, I think the figures look about 144-ish.

Makes me feel old. I was 25 when the film came out  :-\
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks Cap'n.  Your eyes and hands up to painting it?  Mine wouldn't be.

Bifocals wouldn't stop my hands shaking or make my fingers less clumsy.

As an experienced veteran with this kit, the Y-Wing is a joke, your best bet is to trim off the cockpit and end of the engines and scratch build a new cockpit and engine ends. The figs are closer to 1/135 and the models are 1/160 ish

Captain Canada

Thanks for the input ! That's a good idea.

Anytime. Also, if you want Flying X-Wings, cut off the wings at where they meet the fuselage, use use rod and strip styrene to make the engines, and laser cannons (use wire for the Laser barrels and a half of tube styrene for the emitter, if you want that kind of detail). Use the wings and trace the pattern 4x to get four thinner wings. Shave only the bottom half of the stock Laser cannon, and keep the engine to get the full length of the wings.
