This guy makes AMAZING Star Trek stuff in 1/2500 scale, among other things. I've already put his kid through college with what I've purchased, but everything I've gotten, even in low-res white plastic, has been awesome. So very happy with everything this guy puts out.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

For sure Chris. If you look at the first pic you can see the tiny little fins on the drop tanks !

Sprayed some primer onto the air wing I bought for my Ark Royal project. Thought I should post the pictures here as well as on that thread.

I used Halfords Grey Plastic Primer from the rattle can. Unfortunately one of the Phantoms decided to take off as I primed them outside and its foulded wing tip came off. I still have it and will fix it in place later once detail painting has been done.

Thanks for posting!  I say the Phantoms, Buccaneers and Gannets looks superb- great detail!   - the helicopters look fair (not your fault).  I think they are inferior to the Wessex in the old pit road injection mold, or some of the Dragon Sea Kings.  Perhaps we are not quite there with 3d rotor blades yet.

Thanks again- Dave.

They would have to be incredibly thin to have a more scale appearance, etch brass would be more to scale though.

Wall thickness limit is at 0.5 mm, the material gets really breakable at that point, Shapeways have chosen to set the limit high enough to avoid most breakage during printing and postprocessing.

Great stuff. Love the little Gannets. Always been a fan of that aeroplane, and have always wanted to build a ship covered in them.

#39
Took my first plunge at shapeways.  Thought I would go with one to check it out- this could get dangerous and expensive!  Used paypall, and took about 10 days from order to delivery. $12.70 US plus $4.99 shipping.  Shipped from New York.  Not sure where it was 3D printed. Got regular emails confirming order, when it was shipped etc.   I do like that there is only one connection to the sprue- well hidden on the belly.

1/700 MiG-17 (x12), which may go into an idea I have for the Soviet Group Build.

Shapeways, 1/700 Mig-17/Shenyang J-5, by Kokoda Trial Models:

Next to 1/700 Yak-38, Pit Road/West Wings E-2 Hawkeye and Aoshima Sea Harrier.

Overall I am happy with the quality

This is the Russian Project P21631 Buyan M class Corvette in 1/700 by Dutch Fleet Miniatures

Lovely detail although you can see a bit of the print lines on the deck surfaces, weapons are fitted but no Barrels or masts so those can come from the spares box, might even replace some moulded items with spares too once I see what its like after priming.

Blimey, a stealth ship!  :o

Why did they print it in clear material, does that give some advantages?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Their highest-resolution material is a resin that's a bit translucent during printing. When you clean it up, it'll frost over. (in the words of a Shapeways customer, 'calling FUD transparent is like calling a wet t-shirt transparent').
