The Wooksta!

Pair of finished Beaufighters from me, shown off at last night's club meeting.

I *hate* this one.  It's been kicking about unfinished and unloved for ages.  Finally got a coat of varnish on to finish it a week or so back.  Matchbox kit with Aeroclub resin engines.  Scheme for post war maritime patrol/strike, based on a scheme worn by Beaufighters during the war.  Originally, it was going to be Indian.  I left off the spinners - laziness largely, but I could explain it away as they were left off as they were prone to cracking as the machines aged.

It's going to be hidded away in the cabinet, although it may see the light of day at Wor Show.  Martin may be gifted it for the reserve collection.

Again, Matchbox but more recently thrown together and not quite finished.  She still needs her rockets plus spinners and the serial code should really be in red - I'll go over it a few times with a red felt tip at some point as I couldn't face building up the code from the smaller letters.

88 Sqn* 2TAF night strike Beau for attacking Luftwaffe bases at night - better to use the more rugged Beaus leaving the Mossies to take out anything that got off the ground.  I just wanted to do a Beau in the scheme more associated with Firedog but in wartime Europe.   May do a wartime Mossie NF in that scheme, probably a Matchbox one as I have quite a few.

*They had Bostons in this period, so replacing them with Beaus for a different role made some kind of sense.  Well, it did to me anyway.

They both look pretty good to me Lee.

Is the M'box Beau better than others in any way?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

No.  It's old and basic.  You want a decent Beau?  Airfix all the way, especially the Firedog boxing.  More bits you see, and therefore, more options.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I like both of them mate. Shows what can be done with old kits
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have 2 of it in my Stash.

Nice work for sure Wooks ! I really like the look of the white one, the demarcation on the upper wings really looks the part. Love the Beau, I can still recall the first time I had ever heard of them, in an RCAF Squadron book, with Merlins.
