One day years ago, late 90's IIRC, there was this huge military transport aircraft doing circuits on the west side of Calgary. It came right over our house and headed towards the then CFB training ground which was leased from the local First Nation band.  It came in very low each time and it would then disgorge a large bunch of para-troopers. At first I thought it was a C-5 Galaxy but then it didn't look big enough,  so after a quick call to the International Airport in Calgary, I discovered it was a USAF C-17 doing practice runs. What was more surprising, it was in the middle of winter and on that day was in the minus teens C.

Great stuff. Love the gaggle of C-17s ho cool would that be ? Needed a bit more helo action tho
