the ShinMeiWa is a beautiful base, indeed,  very lean and "modern" flying boat.

I would maybe vote for the airliner Whif

It looks like a four engined version of the Martin P5M Marlin. I might try and  see if the wings from the Be-6 Madge fit.
The wings off the Short Sunderland would be a better option .

Nice find with the airliner Jon.

Always thought that a few turrets should be added, replace the turboprops with radials and paint it up in USN or RAF Coastal Command colours and the uninitiated would struggle to tell you it wasn't a wartime prototype.

The drawing is from the December, 1972 issue of Der Flieger.

IJN green over grey.  ;)

Thanks for posting that drawing Jon, heard they designed an airliner version but never seen a piccy before! Have two in the stash, not sure what I'm going to do with them yet but seriously tempted by the airliner.

Did you ever get around to building your proposal?

I've had a few of the 1/72 Hasegawa Shin Meiwa PS-1/SS-2 kits.
I once went retro and fitted Rolls-Royce Griffon engines fore, upper and rear gun turrets.
I might do this again but without the rear turret.
Alternative power plants have included four Rolls-Royce Tyne engines although the kit would look good with just a pair.
