What do you skip when building model kits?

I'm beginning to think I don't belong here - I do it all! Except for shading and weathering. I've even started using thinners and decal solution...

I knew I liked KiwiZac! I'm with 'ya buddy. I try to do it all too! I usually like adding scratchbuilt extra details in 1/72 'cause you can get a reasonably close approximation. I will say though, that I skip anything that can't be seen, and since I mostly build whifs I often leave often most of the decals/markings.

I like building up the cockpits, but I confess to trying to "skip ahead" and glue anything on the airframe that I can get away with before the cockpit is fully completed and inserted.
Thanks!

Greg

I have an ongoing (10yr+) project of a friend's Fleet 16B in 1/72. I added the battery to the cockpit. Same size in the real deal as a car battery. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF

Because Modellers - that's why.  ;D

Yeah, I have the same ongoing issue with detailing something because the item is there in real life, so it should be there in miniature...

That's why my output of 1/25 cars has has slowed right down.  I'm trying to cure myself by building a heap OOB apart from plug wiring but i'm finding it hard.

Same here. For some reason I find working on cockpits quite relaxing.

Must admit I tend to skip a lot of the tiny stencils you see in 1/72, especially on modern types (not that I build many). They don't look right in 1/72 to me, that's my excuse anyway
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
