There was a whole cluster of them in one spot here, at one time (in one of the parts around Auckland, if memory serves) - IIRC the local Council made them have a big clearout and they're all gone now, but mostly to the railway preservation folk to be re-converted back into 'proper' rolling carriages on various preserved layouts.

Ironically, it was probably being bought and turned into holiday accommodation that spared them from being burned and enabled them to be rescued and restored...

It used to be quite a popular down in Shoreham-by-Sea in the 20-30s on the Sussex coast. The rich would buy a number of coaches of the railway companies and have the linked together to form a 'bungalow/chalet' on the coast, ranging from some straightforward structures built to a similar pattern through to some quite complex arrangements.
