The KLM bought 12 De Havilland DH-91 Albatross airliners in 1938. The first was delivered in November 1938.
The Albatross was used on flight to the Dutch East Indies by KLM until the German invasion in May 1940. During the brief war a number of DH-91s were destroyed on the ground. However 3 were captured by the Germans and impressed in the Luftwaffe.
Two other aircraft were outside the Netherlands during the invasion and flew to the UK in June 1940. They were added to the RAF fleet of ex Imperial Airways DH-91s.

Splendid looking aeroplane and a splendid looking model too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yes! More about the kit, I've only ever seen mention of a vacuform Albatross.

It's really a beautiful plane, obviously a beautiful model end scheme!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Really beautiful. De Havilland made such pretty aircraft. The KLM livery is fitting, too. They very well could have been the follow-up after the HP.42 from the story I wrote a month or so back. This one looks really great.

Beautiful model and very convincing - the livery really suits it.
