Thanks, those are gorgeously done pics.  The double-Starlifter is good, but the fueslages are way too close together, you're going to get some horrendous intereference drag that way.  OTOH, for real there's the article in an issue of APR on Lockheed twin-C5 designs and other large multiple fuselages designs from them.

Didn't notice in the twin C-5 pic the Golden Gate bridge is also a twin....until I clicked the link.... <_<

I've also seen that 747 in another pic, with the AOA a bit steeper so the tail drags on the ground.

Thanks for making me search the Aerospace Projects Review's collection. I will get for Christmas this APR V4N6, good (with also extra explanations about the NA-116 twin-boomer... ). Additional: what is the meaning of OTOH? (On The Other Hand? )
For the close fuselages, I am rather surprised. The Wagner Twin-Cub used such a shape with even one fuselage moved aft to avoid intermeshing propellers, and if the answer is that a Cub is not as speedy as a C-141, with different drag requirements... well, what would be the explanation for the similar Harkey Twin-Mustang-Racer, as a racer is made for speed and low drag, no? We cannot post pictures here it seems - if you need some to judge, we could go on the Picture Post forum...

yes, OTOH = On The Other Hand

I suspect two cubs wouldn't have a problem with fuselages being close - I'd wonder about a twin-Mustang with the fuselages close.  I'd probably want to see some firm data, there, because I've seen what interference drag can do.

I have no firm data, just a project drawing and German text. I go to the picture forum. Talk to you soon there... :)
