This is looking good. One thing though, if your going to have such a large thing as an elevator sticking out of one side you need something to balance the weight on the other side. Have a look at other aircraft carriers to see how they manage this and I think you will find that they extend the top out on both sides of the carrier then have the elevator within the extensions so that it is always balanced by the extension on the other side of the ship.

Not originally. Look at the Essex as built, and you have a honking big elevator off the side on a straight decked carrier.

I figure they either cover the weight differential with changes in machinery, or they handled it the old school way; Concrete on one side of the ship to counter-balance the other, like they did in the Midways.

No way I'm going to finish this one by tonight.  :)

If a friendly mod could please move this to the warships section, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm planning on setting up a section in this board for projects finished post deadline.

Do you want to put it in there or would you like it moved ?

Hmmm, it might not take me that long, so post deadline would be fine.

Thanks for managing this Chris!

Sorry mate but the more I think about it I'm not sure I can actually do what I wanted to do (forgive my brain but it's stuck on Neanderthal when it comes to IT). Therefore it might be better to move it into the Warship Section ? Sorry about that

Very awesome project!  I've been musing on German VTOL carrier whifs for quite some time now.  It's always exciting to see an actual visual representation.

Like the idea they also have this in 1/350 now
