[The Rat]

First built the Revell Skyrocket over 50 years ago, and recently picked up a new one. Still have 2 pieces left from the original, a gear door and what's left of the pitot tube. So just because I can, they have been glued inside the fuselage, for the memories.

This will be a quick build, nothing special, just like the first one. Sanding down the embossed decal placement markings is about all the only surgery, and it will get a better paint job. Also doing it in-flight, gear up.

Cor, that kit brings back memories.

I had one back in the 70s when I ran IPMS Trent, but I never built it and I eventually put it into the club's Xmas Sale, where it went for the princely sum of 50p! However, the following year the buyer put it back in the sale and it raised 25p!

And so it went on for years, eventually swapping hands for 1p per time!! I wonder if it's still doing the rounds?

It's a simple bit of work, and given the times probably not completely accurate. But it looks the part, and she's a beautiful aircraft.

No cutting at all, if you can build it with the sprue still attached! And I've just been breaking the "no sanding" bit by scouring off the raised decal markings. Filled and sanded a couple of sink marks, and that's about it. An ambitious modeler would carve out the engine intakes and exhaust, but not I.
