Ok _ I want to do a Fortress II (B-17F) in the RAF day bomber scheme with the dark blue scheme as seen in SAM recently. The artwork shows a delivery scheme without squadron codes. What colour would the codes be? Logic says Sky, but wouldn't red or deep blue/black be a better option for the cammo? Any ideas please!

What edition of SAM mate ?

If you search on line you get a couple of profiles of Dark Earth/Green/"Blue" aircraft come up and they have either white of a very light grey codes, but I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for ?

Medium Sea Grey would probably be the best bet for those codes.

We had a thread about this camouflage previous year - here.
Codes probably in grey.

The Wooksta!

Most likely Sky or Med Sea Grey.  Really depends on the era modelled.  Pre 42, MSG, post 42 Sky.

Thank you all - didn't realise this had been done. Chris - SAM June '17, page 54, "The Deep Sky Blue Mystery". Part 2. I have not seen Part 1

Right. The couple of images I found, the blue was no where near as dark as that

Bear in mind the colour film used and the light may change the colour and you cannot trust a 4 colour reproduction

I should have been clearer Geoff. The images I found were profiles so there might be lots of factors at play.

Sorry for any confusion.
