Remmeber the good old days when the Soviet Union existed and rumours and conjectures of new combat aircraft came out to scare the wits out of us all.  For instance, who remembers this MiG-2000 from the mid 1980s:



Might make the basis of a good what-if model.

Cool. Those look like they were made by an artists whose only source was a phone call to an image analyst who'd seen one satellite picture of an Su-27. In fact, with an Su-27 donor one should be able to build a passable MiG-2000...
