Wasn't the prototype DC-4 fitted with twin tail fins?

Almost, it had three of them.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's worth Whiffing, I don't have a DC-4 only a C-118 Lift master/DC-6 1/72 scale.

The DC-4E was not the prototype for the DC-4, the designation was reused,
however the aircraft were complety different machines.

The DC-4 was put forward as a proposal for the replacement of the Shorts Sunderland in the maritime patrol role. An upper gun turret and bomb bay were also to be included. There's a chapter in Chris Gibson book' Nimrod Genius'.

Yes you are right, I stand corrected.
