I have just been looking at an idea that has been bouncing round my sieve head for a while. I took the wings and lower fuselage from the Revell Mirage 2000, and sat the fuselage of a revell mirage F-1C in the gap where the fuselage of the 2000 would go. With only a little cutting and puttying, it would fit just nicely. I was going to do this as a future project as it looks an easy job. Thing is, when you look at it, it still looks 99.9% like a mirage 2000. So if I do do this, without making a pigs ear of it, it will still look like a mirage 2000. Hmm.....?

Whilst at it, and I am sure some will already know this, the Hasegawa Mirage F-1C is the same kit as the Revel one. So it is an old kit really.

How about a shoulder-mounted delta wing, à la CF-105?

That would take a lt more work to get right Dizzy, the F-1/2000 with the wings in the right place would need a lot less surgery, and all the right parts are already there ie, landing gear. I may do it anyways, so watch this space.

You could leave the F1 landing gear as it is, and turn the 2000 wings upside down, unless they are very heavily cambered. The 2000 isn't an aircraft I've taken a lot of notice of I'm afraid.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Not quite sure if that would work to be honest Kit, as the wings on the 2000, have the landing gear in them and lots of other stuff that will need chiseling off and filling in. I will have another look and see if I can tape it up and post a pic of it.

Glue the main gear doors closed under the wings and that's sorted.  ;D

I like the idea of using the F-1C's undercarriage - IIRC, it's quite different from that of the 2000.

Somewhat different idea:  What if you used the front end of a Saab Viggen with the Mirage 2000 wings?  That way you'd get the Viggen's canards with the Mirage, and the very different Saab delta wing with the F-1C ...

It is, it folds into the fuselage on some pretty complex legs, whereas the 2000's folds into the wings pretty conventionally.

Some cracking ideas so far, not had chance to take any pics of the F-1/ 2000 mix as yet, been too busy trying to find a super etendard that has gone missing, and trying to finish my upgrade mirage III.

I am not sure if the Heller Mirage F-1 is slimmer than the Hasegawa/Revel one but I taped the fuselage together on said Heller version, taped the wings together from the 2000, and the gap will be way to big to do anything with. I even got technical on it and got the vernier calipers out and the gap either side is huge, so much so, the landing gear wells were showing. So back to the drawing board with that one....Bugger :banghead: In theory it looked very plausible using the Hasegawa fuselage, but I don't fancy carving that one up, the Heller one was only a fiver.

Could possibly have something different to steal the wings off for this project, and not a mirage but still a delta, I need to put the wings together from a 1/72n scale Typhoon I have two of, and see what they look like, and the size of the fuselage gap.
