Just a little update. I was wondering how to transfer the sizes of the cockpit of the MPM/Special Hobby/Xtrakit Meteor F8 onto the Aeroclub conversion set. Then I remembered an old technique akin to Brass Rubbing.

So some paper was held firmly in place over the cockpit area with some tape, then a pencil was rubbed over where the edges of the cockpit were and the result is below.

The result has to go onto the Aeroclub part now  :-\

I have also just had an idea for the canopy which may mean that all the rubbing is for nothing. Both the new Airfix Meteor kits have both canopy options, the fully clear and the strengthened rear section versions so I can use one of those and the windscreen from the Matchbox kit and then display the canopy open so that any mismatch doesn't show.  ;D

Didn't the conversion come with a canopy?  Although it may well have yellowed, a lot of Aeroclub stuff sadly has.

Instead of paper I use masking tape for the job . Works mucho bettero .
It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

I'm not keen on vac-form canopies and this way I can use Injection pieces which to me is less hastle and no chance of turning yellow later.

IIRC, the Xtrakit/Airfix F8 had both canopies, so you could use one of those.

Thanks Lee, I managed to find one in the Special Hobby version I have. It fits well on the fuselage but does show that the cockpit opening needs enlarged.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
