Dear all.....what is the favoured method for modifying clothing on 1/35 figures...? I am looking at trying to simply modify the crew from the Tamiya PAK40 kit into slightly later war gear....ie the nice camo jackets...i had thought of either rolling out some putty really thin and laying over the early war uniform  OR using a liquid filler to maybe build up layers....any suggestions very much appreciated.....AoO

sand down any large / erroneous bits ( carefully) . then apply very thin layer/s of green stuff / putty.
it is rather tricky to do ( I have done it on 28mm wargames figs, to a lesser and greater effect).  be prepared for several attempts to get the look you want.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

As Steel Penguin said, anything that's going to project past what you want the figure to wear, sand/cut it down. Then putty.

I mostly use Apoxy Sculpt because it sticks fairly well (especially once cured) & can be shaped easily while curing (takes a couple of hours +/-) with all sorts of implements & digits, & a little water to lubricate things (I sometimes use isopropyl alcohol ... but that's enough about my drinking habits!). The benefit of this is that you can just lump it on, to some extent, then work it into the desired form before leaving it to cure, which usually means that there's little-to-no sanding/filing/etc. to finish the job off.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!
