Avro York alternative uses

The Avro York used the wings, engines, landing gear and tail fins from the Avro Lancaster to build a transport/airliner until it was replaced by something better.
There were several prototypes built but the popular model was the CI although the C2 used the engines from the Lancaster BII.
A fellow Whiffer suggested a flying boat version.
I based the 1/72 CMR resin conversion set on a AEW variant using the interior of the Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2. I should have fitted the wings first before gluing the work stations in place. A school boy error.
There's the Mach2 kit which needs a lot of love and patients. Plus a donor Lancaster for parts either the BI/III or BII.
Likewise the various vacform kits. Although the rear fuselage may need to be widened to get an accurate size.
I'm thinking something along the lines of a maritime patrol aircraft, it could make a good gunship with all those windows .
I'll wait until my two vacform kits arrive and see if the resin Avro Lincoln conversion set can be used on it

There was only one C2, all the rest were C1s, and the single C2 was the original prototype.

I did have some ideas around a Merlin 85 powered version with 198 Sqn as an ELINT snooper.  Lots of room for radio gear and other black boxes.

Actually, a medevac aircraft would be quite interesting.  Write up a suitable backstory about RAMC in SEAC flying released POWs to hospitals in India/Australia.  I might have a go at the backstory later, and leave it lying around for someone more skilled than me to construct.

Some Yorks were equipped as medevcs anyway. One of my Dad's TCTDF Yorks had brackets for stretchers installed down the starboard side in two layers, with canvas seats on the port side for the attenders. That aircraft was always set up like that for BoB Day displays, and it drove Dad nuts trying to find enough stretchers every year.
