Future Boy Conan - Robonoid

Here's one instance of modelling giving back to my love of comics/manga/animation.  After ericr posted his nice pics regarding the Falco from the Hayao Miyazaki animated television series from the late 70's "Future Boy Conan", I was enamoured (especially since I already have a Hayao Miyazaki project going on) and ended up picking one up during a trip to Japan.

I haven't build that one yet, but I figured since I already had the kit, I should probably give the show a look-see... and I'm sure glad I did.  I don't have much time for the anime of today (which IMHO is mostly assembled at corporate headquarters using demographics), but Future Boy Conan brings back some fond memories from a show I've never seen before.  It's based on "The Incredible Tide" a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel for young adults written by Alexander Key, and features a lot of prototypical Studio Ghibli themes.

Anyway, beyond the Falco flying boat, I also fell in love with the little green "robonoid" - basically a construction mecha - and I couldn't resist giving it a go in 1/72 scale.

Totally from scratch, so we'll see how it goes, but it's off and running.

This is what it's supposed to look like:

So I grabbed some bits of sheet styrene, and some tubes and got to cutting and glueing.

Thanks!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ditto.

I have Future Boy Conan.  I must watch it.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I haven't been able to update this properly... but here's the sprint to the end.

I was able to get the hands off a Gundam-ish thing and I shaped the back of the feet from scratch.

Little bit of putty... and he stands!

Little bit of sanding and some interior paint...

And... voila!

Thanks!

Why does this remind me of Huey, Dewy and Louie from 'Silent Running'?  ;D ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It rather reminds me of the lunar gas cooker ; Wallace and Gromit's Grand Day Out
