I've got a set of spare Griffon engines + props from an old Frog/Revell Shackleton together with a Revell Lancaster. I got a sort of "Eureka" moment when I wondered about doing a bit of butchery on the Lanc and, fitting it with a pair of the R R Griffons to produce a sort of Avro Manchester. As nobody seems interested in producing a proper kit of the actual aeroplane, I thought : "What the hell"!  Yes,I'm going to keep the contra props!! This is Whifworld after all! ;)  ;D

I recall from somewhere that development of the R R Griffon was put on hold to allow Rolls Royce to concentrate on the R R Vulture. How ironic if true because maybe the otherwise sound Manchester might have been a success with the Griffon engines? Ah well! Such is life!

Ideal subject for the forthcoming Re-Engine it GB one would have thought.

Definitely one I want to see 🙂
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

It'd look similar to Womby's recent Avro offering, but with Griffons instead of Sabres, but WITH contraprops!

What's not to like?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

I will. Thank you. . That certainly looks intriguing  .I wasn't going to do it in standard Bomber Command colours either. I sort of envisaged a sort of "four engined" snobbery that would relegate an otherwise good aircraft to the fringes . As in Coastal Command or, the Middle East. I'm kind of leaning towards the Coastal Command version and, replacing the front turret with a pair of fixed 20mm cannons. On the other hand, I think it would look cool in Sand/Dark Earth/Azure Blue! Decisions! Decisions! ;D

I like the idea of "4 engined snobbery" . Maybe Middle East Command in Italy ?

 I intend my Airfix Lancaster B.II for the  Middle East Air Force  along with Merlin engined P-38 Lightnings as long range escorts but, that's not in the immediate future.
